Sources, columnists and other items worth watching

image This page lists some publications and columnists we like to follow. There are many others which could be listed here and some soon will be. With the media in a state of flux, frequent change means this page would soon be dated without constant checking and monitoring. Readers may also have suggestions. This is far from a finished work so keep watching. Suggestions are appreciated.

We expect the coming year to be a zinger. Some may wonder why we place so much emphasis on the big picture and geopolitical events. The reason is simple. We believe these events will be having a far greater impact on investor's portfolios than the usual mix of financial news, opinion, and stock analysis. If, for whatever reason, we have a geopolitical event which is perceived as being market negative, assume your portfolio will shrink regardless of how well individual some stocks may have been trading. We saw some incredible cases of exactly this happen in 2008 - 2009 and we could see it happen again. .

The site is designed to give investors a quick overview of important news and world markets. On the upper right, we have links to Bloomberg Markets. It takes about 1 minute to get a quick grasp on how various world markets are doing. Virtually every stock market of any consequence anywhere in the world is listed. At a glance, readers can spot trends in regions. They can also see historical progress of each market and index. A quick look at this info often presents an investment picture far different than some analysts and experts would have you believe.

Below are lists of various news media and also some correspondents. They vary widely in their views. As investors, we may or may not agree with their portrayal or interpretation of news. But what's important is knowing what's being reported, what others think, and why they act as they do. That knowledge provides advantage.
